Welcome to Thimble Cottage Designs.
Here you will find designs of elegant samplers, which incorporate traditional stitches and techniques such as Pulled and Drawn Thread work and Hardanger, as well as cross stitch and other speciality stitches. Some of the samplers are worked in pure silk threads, whilst others have beautiful variegated threads in them and most are embellished with beads and charms. My passion lies in creating fine needlework that will remain as a legacy of the stitcher’s time, talent and effort.
I started teaching needlework about 10 years ago and some of the pupils I taught then attend my classes today, whilst some have gone on to be talented designers in their own right. I enjoy the challenge of teaching and the sharing of skills and my designing has somewhat evolved from this.
There is nothing quite like stitching something beautiful and being proud of the finished product – but please remember to mark your samplers with your initials and the year in which they were stitched. You are creating your own heirlooms for future generations to admire and it would be a shame if the memory of the stitcher was forgotten.
